Veron’s songs are grittily honest and have the gravity of a great songwriter; exactly the sort of stuff that I buy.
Dom Veron: Press
Mr Veron is the Northwest's leading spiritual acoustic troubadour. He draws you in with heart wrenching tales of love, loss and infatuation. Check out 'Doves' ( “small towns bore me” ). Be warned he also has an acerbic eye for detail and a whip lash sense of humour.
Strong, well crafted lyrics combined with an unusual vocal delivery. Warm yet powerful guitar playing combines sweetly with artists original vocal delivery and style.
Veron is a true original, blessed with a searing voice, a sharp wit and an ear for haunting, dark melodies.
Dom Veron writes the songs that I'd never be able to; not because I have no musical talent (which is painfully true) but because these songs are from a place that is His and His alone. Be happy that he offers us a window to it every now and again. Seeing him deliver his material is an opportunity to witness someone laying themselves bare; you've got to love honesty like that. If you're intelligent enough, sensitive enough, perceptive enough you may derive your own meanings from his songs; you'll be wrong but it's a beautiful journey getting there. Listen and enjoy; whatever I write won't say it as well as the songs themselves. Catching him performing them is a cracking bonus.
Dom Veron allows no influence on his style other than that which comes naturally (ok so maybe a slight hint of The Beatles - but nothing more than a “distant influence”) – His unique vocal tones sit perfectly above the melodic intricacy of his guitar works, only to capture you and hold you at one with whatever mood you are in. There is something spookily trancelike in the melodies whereby it is hard to pull yourself away from a song once you have pressed play – Like a drug it enhances the feelings that are repressed in your mind, allowing them to be released and free.
Hallelujah is a perfect example of quality songwriting, whereby time is allowed to stand still during a journey from the continuous build that never quite overflows or peaks, therefore holding you till the end only to want to press repeat and hoping it may climax on the second listen – Addictive!
The concern is that he will now have to deliver if his next release is to be at the high standard of his current offerings! There is enough promise if Hallelujah is anything to go by!
